I don’t mind my body odor. However, I appreciate that others do. For about five years now I have stayed clear of commercially produced deodorants. The store products generally have chemicals and components I do not want to put on my skin daily. So I have a simple alternative with only two ingredients.
DIY Deodorant
I use a simple 50/50 mix of baking soda and cornstarch. The baking soda deodorizes while the cornstarch absorbs moisture. On occasion, I will apply a bit of tea tree oil to my armpits if I suspect a nagging bacteria. This recipe is not an antiperspirant. You will still sweat.
Recipe
- 1/2c baking soda
- 1/2c cornstarch
Mix thoroughly in a container that has a lid for storage. I apply my mix with a makeup pad. It can be a bit messy but it wipes up well and is non-toxic. You could eat it without any ill effects. Overall this mix has served me well for years.
